First Grade match report – Round 4 Game 1 – Vikings vs Baulkham Hills.
Vikings Win 4-2
The Vikings won 4-2 in a great game against Baulkham Hills on Sunday. It was a great team effort for the Vikings to pick up the win in a close game.
Once again our pitching staff kept us in the game, Tim Stanford threw 3ip 3h 2k 2bb 1er to get us off to a great start then Josh Wells made his best outing of the season so far 2ip 1h 0bb 0er a great outing from Josh, Gavin D’Loughy threw a solid 2ip 0h 1k 0bb 0er and Michael McClellan shut down Baulko to end the game 2ip 2h 1k 1bb 0er. Corey Barnes and Shane O’Connor made some outstanding defensive plays to help out the pitching staff, Corey’s 9th inning diving catch was the best catch of the season so far.
The Vikings hit well considering they faced some good pitching in former MLB pitcher and current Sydney Blue Sox closer Koo Dae Sung, they managed to score 3 of the 4 runs while Koo was on the mound. Trent D’Antonio continued his great start to the season 2-4 2rbi, Mark Holland 2-4 1rbi 1sb, Joel Southam 1-2 1bb 1hbp 1r, Corey Barns 1-4 2r 1bb 1sb, Rowan Nicol 1-4 1sb, Alex Rogers 1-4 and Guy Edmonds 1-4

First grade match report round 3 Vikings Vs Ryde
Vikings go down to Ryde 6-4
In a disappointing game the Vikings made some costly errors and took the loss against Ryde on Wednesday Night.
Round 3 Vs Ryde
The Vikings had the lead going into the last innings but were unable to close the game out and Ryde scored 3 runs to win the game. Rohan Nicol had a great game with the bat going 2-3 and scoring twice. All the pitchers threw well again but there was some poor defence behind them, Ryde scored 6 runs but only 1 was earned.
The weekend game was rained out.

Women’s League Schedule
The Women’s League season schedule has been added to the calendar.
Game 1 – Penrith vs Vikings
Our first up game was against the Penrith 1, with many players not having played before or long been retired, we showed great heart considering only eight available players.
Baseball debutants: Selena Fitzgerald, Rachelle Bouzoid, Samantha Gordon, Jelena Srbinovski and Sandra Edwards all doing extremely well.
The tone was set early with our first batter of the night, Samantha Gordon being welcomed to baseball by getting hit by the first pitch of the night. Later Samantha also made further contributions by being our relief pitcher in tha game.
Rachelle Bouzoid also contributed well with two RBI’s to her name, two runs and four stolen bases – a great night out for the first timer.
Sandra Edwards also made a considerable contribution by getting on base twice, one RBI, two stolen bases and scored a run.
Not to be shown up by Sandra – Selena Fitzgerald got on base and has a RBI to her name also.
Jessica Edwards a former East Hills Baseball Club junior started the game at pitcher and also did well with the bat to push runners around during the game and scored a run.
However the find of the night was Shannon Fitzgerald an East Hills Baseball Club junior who closed out the game in one innings with facing seven batters for one hit and three strikeouts plus had three putouts at first during the game.
All in all everyone had a great night out and is looking forward to oour next game after the October long weekend.

VIKINGS WIN SEASON OPENER 7-3
The Vikings kicked off the 2011/12 season with a 7-3 win over Penrith
Joel Southam was up first for the Vikings and worked a leadoff walk, he then advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored from second on a single from Mark Holland to put the Vikings up 1-0 in the first. From there the Vikings batted well all day scoring a total of 7 runs off 8 hits and an impressive 11 walks. Gavin Dloughy started for the Vikings on the mound throwing a perfect 2 innings, Tim Stanford was next throwing 2 innings and Alex Rogers did a great job going 5 innings to keep the Vikings in the game and he also picked up the Win. All the pitchers threw very well and didn’t allow any walks.
